And I couldn't resist a photo of the resemblance she had to her Cabbage Patch Kid that day...

We did have to make a return trip to the oral surgeon's office as about once a day she'd start bleeding again. Apparently she had a type of clot that was irritating and preventing the wound from healing. She went back to school yesterday, still a little swollen and still not able to eat much, but slowly but surely getting back to normal.

So...I'm not a huge movie buff. Never see them in the theater and frequently fall asleep watching them on video. Most movies I see I'd give a solid "C"...an okay way to spend a couple hours but not worth seeing again or spending much converstion on. I often find myself thinking "WHAT does everyone see in that movie??"

So it is a pretty big event when I get excited about a movie, but I am excited tonight. I have a new movie to add to my Very Short List of Movies I Love. I've already watched it twice and am thinking of watching it again tonight.

The movie is The Prestige with Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale. Not a particularly new release, but if you haven't already seen it, go watch it. And then watch it again.

No more wisdom?

Yesterday was a B-I-G day for my baby Julia. She had her wisdom teeth removed. All four of them, I guess they would be considered impacted? Growing in sideways anyway.

The procedure itself was actually quick, only an hour or so start to finish. The recovery period was, um, a bit longer.

What I've learned? Julia has a low tolerance for medication. Finally, this morning, I've been able to talk to her about it a bit and pieced together her side of the story. Her recollection of the surgery goes like this: We sat in the waiting room for a half hour or so, they called her back, took her blood pressure, gave her an IV. She immediately got really sleeapy. Then she was walking with her hands on my shoulders, still feeling the same sense of sleepiness. This "walk" was out the back door and into the car, after all was said and done. After I got her and myself buckled up she told me (though it took me several tries to understand what she was trying to say) "They didn't do anything." I pulled down the mirror and opened it up so she could see the gauze hanging out of her mouth and told her "Yes, they did, honey." She responded with "How'd that get there?"

After a quick stop at the post office next door, from which I returned to find her asleep with her head somehow both on the window and the dashboard, I decided that I better get her home before heading to Target to pick up her four prescriptions.

So, we came home and got her up the stairs pretty easily. Took her to my bed because hers is situated in such a way that you can't really keep your head propped up like she was instructed to do. Got Lillian settled in for a short nap and then headed off to Target.

By the time I returned about an hour or hour-and-a-half later, the nausea had begun. Today she has been able to explain that she didn't feel nauseaus that often (mostly just tired) but she has the kind of stomach that feels strongly that nausea requires action. Let me just say that it has been many, many years since I've had to be that closely involved with this process for her. Thankfully, no laundry was required.

Most of the rest of the day was spent waking her up to give her narcotic painkillers, antibiotics and anti-inflammatory steroids. Today she added in an antimicrobial mouth rinse as her final prescription medication. I'm not sure if it was the painkillers, whatever was in the IV, or both that caused the nausea but she is better this morning. Her pain isn't that bad so we've switched to just ibuprofin for that. This is a girl that can open her mouth wide enough to fit half her fist in and right now she is lucky if she can open an inch, so she is really sore...but not the kind of sore necessitating narcotics that may very well be keeping her half-unconscious and sick to her stomach.

She had to fast after midnight Wednesday night and could not eat at all yesterday. She only drank maybe a cup of water and Accelerade combined and I don't know how much of that she kept down. But she seems to have turned a corner...this morning she's peed for the first time in 24 hours, brushed her teeth (a little) and eaten a pudding cup. Off to try a key lime yogurt!

Wow.

We met with our realtor last week and she thinks that we can list our home for a price that we would realistically need to in order to make considering a move worthwhile. No guarantees that it would actually receive an offer for that amount...but enough encouragement to go ahead with our plans for now. So...time to get that window and that tub fixed up and finish up the interior painting. Then we will most likely go ahead and list it with a short contract just to get some feelers out. She's shown us a few houses via email and we will be going to look at several this weekend, again, just in the mode of getting a feel for the market. She also has pointed out an area to us that we had sort of overlooked, one where we could get what we were looking for but still stay in our current school district, which would help a lot with our timing issues. Now I just need to start coming to terms realistically with what I've already agreed to intellectually...that I'm most likely going to be going from a home of pretty high quality to one of...well, a little lesser quality. I gotta keep reminding myself 'location, location, location.' And also that the lower mortgage payments will just make life more pleasant in so many other ways. A new adventure!

Lillian did or said something really cute a couple days ago that I really wanted to share...but now I have no recollection at all as to what it was. I'll be back if it comes to me.
