Arnel with the kids on Father's Day
Just wanted to update you all about the concert...it was great! Clear skies all day and lots of fun things for the little ones to do but the best part was the music. I saw Stellar Kart, Hawk Nelson, a tiny bit of Matthew West, David Crowder Band, and Newsboys.

My faves were Stellar Kart (surprise) and Newsboys (no surprise). Hawk Nelson was good but they are so similar to Stellar Kart that it is hard not to compare, especially when seeing them perfrom back to back, and Stellar Kart was just a much better show. I didn't see much of Matthew West because I chose to see Hawk Nelson perform in a different tent but I got to hear him warm up and the end of his show and that was great. David Crowder was a really good show as well and I'm not even that big a fan of their music but it was a great performance. Newsboys were, as expected, absolutely amazing. We are already talking about attending next year again!

Will share a few photos later!

Thought I ought to check in again. Since my last visit here, we've all signed up for the library's summer reading program. That is always fun. Laura, Lillian and I did the route of the neighborhood's annual yard sale. Didn't find much but a few books and some clothes for Lil.

On Friday the 13th we had our youth group kick-off event. First we all went bowling. Apparently summer's are slow and we had the place all to ourselves. That was nice...no smoke. The only drawback was that it took until about time for us to leave before the air conditioning really kicked in. I guess my bowling success of a few months ago was a fluke because this time I bowled something like a 46. Oh, well. After that we went back to the church and the kids played some soccer while Arnel grilled burgers. After we ate we had some board game relays and then some ice cream events...a taste test (Breyer's received 2 votes, Haagen Dazs 6, and in a big surprise, Tofutti received 6 as well!), an ice-cream eating speed contest and then we all made sundaes.

On Friday we went to an Indy Jones party and I got to show how little I know about the series in our trivia contest. After the party Arnel and the three big kids went to see the movie while I came home with the little ones. Next day was Father's Day so we had to go out to Chinese, of course.

We are all fighting off being sick and it is getting the best of me at the moment. Sore throat, earaches, headache. I'm typically one who prefers to lay in bed and rest and let my body fight stuff off naturally but just too busy to do that right now so I'm having to go the heavy medication route. Yesterday my three older kids went to a friend's house so we took the opportunity to go out to dinner for much less than we normally can. It was my first time at a place called Famous Dave's BBQ and it was yummy! Arnel and I ordered this plate to share that they bring you on a garbage can lid. There were ribs, chicken, corn muffins, beans, cole slaw, fries, brisket and corn on the cob. Yum yum!

Today was a scavenger hunt with the youth group. I enlisted help of 12 parents/youth workers. I took photos of them all and made copies for each team, which I put in badge holders and conencted with key chain holders. The 12 then took off in the mall and the teams had to find them. Afterwards we all had pizza together. Our next youth event is next Friday night when the boys will go to one house for a video game marathon and the girls will come here for 'chick flicks and chocolate.'

But first...tomorrow is already time for the big concert, The Big Ticket Festival. Woo hoo!!! Then, we get a visit from Arnel's younger sister and her family for a few days next week and we are all looking very much forward to that! We also have Julia's senior pictures scheduled to be taken. A friend of ours is the photographer (can't wait until I get good enough someday to do this!) Then before we know it, it will be July!

Oh, and I can't believe I almost forgot! I ordered our homeschool materials for next year. With it being Laura's probable last year at home I had a last minute change of heart about what I wanted to cover and we decided to go with Sonlight's American History in depth (and Intro to American History with the boys) for her. We've used Sonlight in the past and I'm looking forward to getting back into it. As always, we will use Math-U-See for math. Laura will study Apologia's Physical Science and the boys will be in their Exploring Creation with Zoology 2. I am going to take a look at the Bible and Language programs in the Sonlight package before I make a final determination about all of that.

Well, I have a concert to gather sweatshirts and sunglasses for so I gotta go!

Since I shared layouts of two of my girls I thought I'd add a few more I did today of my other kids! ~smile~

Please forgive the delay in posting. I've been too full to type.

In case I haven't mentioned it, my wonderful in-laws are visiting and I don't think they've stopped cooking since they arrived. Yummy stuff but I have eaten way too much!

We got the pleasure of visiting with my sister- and brother-in-law as well as their youngest two daughters and granddaughter for a few days as well. Just wish it could have been longer!

All the kids are now officially out of school. Julia has been busy babysitting already; she has a job babysitting all day 2 days a week and is earning $100+ dollars per week. That should provide a nice little nest egg for her! She is working hard on her parallel parking in hopes of finally taking her driving test in the next few weeks.

I received my sample shipment of the new Breezy Designs (formerly TLC) line yesterday and I cannot wait to play! It is by far the cutest and trendiest line since I've been involved with the company!

When my sister-in-law was here she had me scan a bunch of old photos of her as a child. Some were not in very good condition so I took the opportunity to play around with my photo-editing program a little and wanted to share what I was able to do. This is one of the most dramatic ones.

I have been able to squeeze in a little scrapbooking this week as well:
