I very much enjoyed "Forget Me Not" by Vicki Hinze and was therefore really looking forward to reading the next book in the Crossroads Crisis Center, "Deadly Ties." I was not disappointed.
"Deadly Ties" is a different kind of sequel. Though there are some peripheral characters returning from the prior book, the main unifying "character" is the Center itself. Great technique for endless story opportunities, no? And the known characters serve to transition us seamlessly into us knowing and caring for the new.
The new characters in "Deadly Ties" are several. Their troubled pasts converge in horrific ways as we root for not only their physical safety, but for them to overcome their pasts and trust God. The book is fast-paced, suspense-filled and heart-wrenching. I can't wait to see what Ms. Hinze comes up with next from the Crossroads Crisis Center.
I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review.
