You Are a Ham Sandwich

You are quiet, understated, and a great comfort to all of your friends.

Over time, you have proven yourself as loyal and steadfast.

And you are by no means boring. You do well in any situation - from fancy to laid back.

Your best friend: The Turkey Sandwich

Your mortal enemy: The Grilled Cheese Sandwich

As of this morning, I've lost 18 pounds! Still a ways to go but I think I may have to indulge in a few new clothes!

Well, turned out that we probably could have hunted eggs outside today after all. There was snow but not much and not until late in the afternoon. Still, I have to admit it was nice not to be so rushed and for the Easter Bunny not to have to get up soooo early in the morning to be done hiding before the kids awoke. Plus, we actually got to church on time! (The kids did do some hiding of plastic eggs in the house.)

I also forgot to mention yesterday that Lillian is 100% potty trained! My thanks to whoever invented the Garfield pull-ups that are way to cool to get wet or poopy as well as way too cool not to want to wear. Somehow we managed to move on to regular panties quite quickly so the expense was minimal and well worth it. Now we just need to get her over the idea that she gets a Mike & Ike every time she poops. All in good time.

Catch up time!

Let's see...I had an absolutely brilliant post all written out in my head last week when I couldn't sleep in the middle of the night. It was about the fact that, after about ten months off, I've gone on my Paxil. It talked about life without it, how hard it is for people to really understand the need for it, and what life is like with it. It was witty and deep at the same time and if I ever get another stroke of that same brilliance I hope to still actually write it out someday. Oh, another stroke of brilliance and three hours or so...it was a really long post.

Last Saturday night as I debated whether Gabe was well enough to go to church the next morning, Lillian started throwing up. It is her first ever tummy bug and The Princess did not like it. She woke the next morning with body aches and fever and for several days complained of her stomach hurting off and on. (I'd not gotten nearly as sick but a week or two earlier had a similar thing where I got pretty ill one night and then it took a good week-and-a-half of that on-again-off-again business before I was really 100% again so I guess that is just how this particular bug goes.)

Last night we were treated to a Medieval Feast as part of our homeschool year. Laura, Gabe and Isaac designed the meal complete with entertainment and instructions on appropriate table manners. We had a blast (along with lots of yummy food) and ended the evening with a game of Don't Forget the Lyrics. Doesn't get much more fun than that!

At one point there was a lull. Lillian picked up a spray bottle of water and started spraying Gabe's hair and fussing with his bangs. She said "I'm going to make you fierce." Not even sure where to begin commenting on that so I'll just let it stand alone.

We colored our Easter eggs this afternoon and as I was lamenting that it was nice and sunny, while we have a chance of snow tomorrow, it dawned on me that there was no law saying we had to do the egg hunt tomorrow. When the kids all agreed to the plan we made a quick call to the Easter Bunny and sure enough, he was able to drop by! So, we hid all the kids away in windowless rooms while he did his thing and had our egg hunt today! Being a California girl it still really rankles me when we have to do egg hunts indoors plus this will make things less rushed tomorrow morning.

I haven't had a chance to take Julia's birthday pictures yet because of her wisdom teeth and the lousy weather/lack of place with good natural light. We also took advantage of the bit of sun and free time today to take a few shots of her, though we are still hoping to get another shoot in, too. But I thought I'd share one for now. (By the way, I think I forgot to share that Julia made varsity soccer this spring!)

I think my husband is on to me.

Yesterday he said to me "Somewhere there is a country looking for their queen."

Hey, if the tiara fits...

In other news...Julia finally seems to be truly healing from her wisdom teeth extraction. Poor girl had a dry socket that got terribly infected but she has a pretty high pain tolerance and is just such a tough kid that we didn't know how bad things were until she had a huge *****squeamish people skip ahead***** pus pocket in her mouth. Once she went back in to have that dealt with and started another round of antibiotics the relief was almost immediate. She still can't open her mouth as far as she used to be able to but she can open it within normal limits. We are also waiting to hear at the end of the month if she makes it into the National Honor Society. Her grades qualified her for nomination but then she had to do paperwork about her other awards, community service, etc. I really have no idea what is required to get in but we are so proud of her for being nominated.
